Project Renewal is a leading non-profit organization with the mission of ending the cycle of homelessness by empowering men, women and children to renew their lives with health, homes, and jobs. Our comprehensive and integrated programs are designed to offer the holistic care our clients need. With a staff of ~1,000 and an annual budget of ~$100 million, Project Renewal is one of the larger social service nonprofits in New York City. Real estate development and management is critical to Project Renewal’s mission. Our existing portfolio consists of 1,034 shelter beds in seven different facilities and 672 units in seven supportive housing buildings. Over the next five to ten years we plan to open up to seven new buildings.

Position Description

Real Estate Development Project Manager

We are looking to hire a Real Estate Development Project Manager in our Real Estate Department. The position would be a year-long, full-time commitment, with a goal of the position becoming permanent. The position will report to the Vice President of Real Estate and may also work with Director of Facilities as needed. Work will be focused on assisting with various tasks for active real estate and construction projects.

Specific Responsibilities:

Responsibilities could include:

• Securing funding for partial renovation of large supportive housing building

• Underwriting and grant writing support for a 116 unit supportive housing development

• Construction punch list and move in for 118 unit building opening in early 2021

• Project management for smaller capital projects throughout the portfolio, and assistance with clearing open violations and applications

Education & Experience:

• Applicant should be a graduate of or currently enrolled in master’s program in urban planning, real estate development, or construction management

• Two years of work experience

Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent organizational skills.

• Self-starter with proven ability to establish and meet goals and objectives.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
