Position Summary

The Vice President of Mission Impact & Strategy serves as a strategic partner to leaders across the agency in YWCA’s journey to strengthen its mission to eliminate racism and empower women. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President will drive lasting cultural and behavior change by coaching and supporting internal racial justice, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. The Vice President will play a critical role in developing and implementing programs designed to eliminate racism and empower women through all YWCA programs, service delivery and community connections.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Establishing a consistent understanding of racial equity and inclusion principles throughout the agency, community groups and partners; develops and implements trainings that promote cultural understanding and competency that fosters climate of equity and inclusion.
  • Design, lead, and oversee Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Racial Justice strategy with the focus of advancing the mission and goals of YWCA in partnership with other community agencies, and utilizes data to continuously learn, adapt, and improve
  • Oversee the review of practices and policies, assessing and analyzing DEI/RJ initiatives to determine measurement of success.
  • Working closely with all executive, program and administrative teams to ensure that organizational culture, practice and leadership development programming is anchored in the organizations vision for equity and inclusion
  • Oversees YWCA signature and public events as it relates to DEI/RJ
  • Champion strategies to ensure YWCA culture, systems and processes support an environment that is inclusive for all where employees feel they are able to contribute their fullest.
  • Partner with Director of Marketing and Development to create strategic fundraising and grant proposals that result in funding for DEI/RJ initiatives.

Required Competencies

  • Demonstrated understanding of leading practices and legislations regarding DEI/RJ
  • Experience in developing and facilitating curriculum/presentations related to equity, diversity, and inclusion and anti-racism in professional organizations
  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting data to develop insights, drive decisions and measure impact
  • Experience in facilitating courageous conversations around racism, social and cultural diversity.
  • Ability to collaborate with others to support organizational changes that advance equitable and diverse organizational culture
  • Strategic planner with a demonstrated track record of management and delivery
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communicating complex information with clarity to diverse audiences.

Successful candidate will have

 Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred) in Public Policy, Diversity and Inclusion or a related field

 7+ years’ experience in diversity, advocacy and/or policy related position or programs Or equivalent work-related professional experience
